Deplatforming Bad Ideas Is Counterproductive

Deplatforming should be reserved for actual illegal conduct—threats of harm and doxing—but for those merely espousing bad ideas, removing them from social media is counterproductive because isolating ideologically sealed people further makes it impossible for them to be reached, and social media is one of the few effective mechanisms for reaching them; refusing a large public stage is not the same as deplatforming.
