Scientific Temper Versus Scientific Method

Following Dewey, there is a distinction between scientific method and scientific temperament: a method can become a form of idolatry and prevailing paradigms can become blind spots, but the scientific temper—the Socratic energy—remains critical of all dogmatism even within the scientific community itself.
