Goldilocks Zone May Be Too Restrictive

The traditional habitable zone or Goldilocks zone concept may be needlessly restrictive for the search for life, because energy sources beyond a star—such as Jupiter's tidal heating of its moons or a planet's own internal core heat—could sustain liquid water and life even on rogue planets or icy moons far from any sun.
