The new art movement that emerged from Duchamp and was commercialized by Warhol and his followers has taken over all the institutions of the old art—the academies, galleries, prize systems, fundraising apparatus—and now perpetuates itself with all the pretension, money, and pomp of the elite culture it originally claimed to attack.
