Past economic systems deserve study despite failure

Dismissing socialism from study because 'it didn't work out well' is wrong; socialism was a huge economic and political system that existed and functioned, and like medieval economies, Roman economies, or slavery, it is an economic system we need to understand rather than confining economics to the last 30-40 years covering about 8% of the world's population.
