Institutional continuity from USSR to Russia

There is strong continuity between the Soviet Union and post-Soviet Russia: the KGB became the FSB with many of the same personnel continuing, and though the party disappeared, many of the same people continued shaping Russian foreign policy, extending patterns even from the pre-Soviet period.
