How to start a fire in wet conditions

To start a fire when everything is wet, find a dead standing tree, chop it down, cut and split it open to reach dry inner wood, shave curls under cover, and prepare far more kindling than you expect; fat wood (sap-infused injured pine that repels water) is especially valuable because it lights even when wet.

find a dead standing tree... when you split it open, no matter how much it’s been raining, it’ll be dry on the inside
