Hardcore vs work-life-balance self-selection

Rather than firing everyone, a better approach used at Twitter was to ask employees to self-select into camps by checking a box committing to being hardcore and all-in versus prioritizing work-life balance; people legitimately divide differently at different life stages, and it makes sense for certain companies or teams at certain stages to want only hardcore people.
