Remote work erodes social guardrails

Just as software gets worse over time because it lacks the physical edges that constrain industrial design, remote work removes the physical pushback that normally keeps inappropriate behavior (like political proselytizing) in check, allowing things into the workplace that would never be tolerated in person.
