Early Cold War caused by violation of Yalta's spirit
One reason the early Cold War played out as it did was that the Soviets' imposition of communist governments in Bulgaria and Romania violated the spirit of Yalta, prompting American refusal to recognize them—though ultimately the Americans did recognize these governments and did nothing about Poland or Czechoslovakia because the Soviets militarily controlled that territory.
