Everett Was Expelled For Many-Worlds
In 1957 graduate student Hugh Everett proposed that rather than magically deleting the unobserved measurement outcome one should accept that both outcomes (and two copies of the observer) exist, birthing the many-worlds interpretation; he was effectively driven out of physics for it because the field would no longer engage him.
