Individual consciousness is not fundamental to your identity—you are not the same person as you were 10 years ago; continuity of identity is a projection from present consciousness, useful for learning and responsibility but ultimately a fiction; consciousness itself is lawlike and substrate-independent, not bound to individual identity, so uploading or merging with larger systems doesn't require preserving your current identity but only preserving your aesthetic perspective and architectural uniqueness.
