Three Dimensions of Equality
Inequality operates along three sociological dimensions—domination/subordination (who gets to order whom around), honor/stigmatization (social esteem), and standing (how much one's interests count in others' deliberations, especially the state's)—and egalitarianism aims to flatten all three and prevent them from constantly aligning to reward the same people.
