China flipped from complacency to draconian lockdowns

China shifted from extraordinary complacency and false reassurance through mid-January 2020, insisting there was no human-to-human transmission, to extremely draconian lockdowns by late January once mass hospitalizations revealed rapid spread, with both responses arguably going too far in opposite directions.
