Quality of Practice Beats Quantity

The number of practice hours matters far less than the quality of practice; two or three hours of focused, concrete work on troublesome technical or musical sections—practiced slowly before fast and assembled in pieces—is more efficient than seven or eight hours of playing pieces through, which risks not actually working on weaknesses.
