John Rawls's 1971 theory of justice was predicated on consensus and agreement 'in the metropole' while ignoring hundreds of US military interventions abroad—a disassociation of foreign from domestic policy—and rested on disproportionate corporate and professional influence, so the suffering it overlooked (empire abroad, race and class at home) comes back to haunt the system.
