Vascular Neck Restraint Is Statistically Very Safe

The vascular neck restraint—cutting off carotid circulation to induce unconsciousness in about six seconds—is statistically very safe when applied by someone trained, with deaths occurring almost exclusively when pressure is egregiously maintained for 30 to 60 seconds after unconsciousness; deaths in normal trained practice are vanishingly rare.
