Cells participate in millions of circuits, frustrating mapping

Because each cell receives 10,000 inputs and the brain must store everything you know and every behavior you can do, every cell participates in many different circuits; we lack a full description of any animal's behavioral repertoire, so a wiring diagram is far more complicated than the single phenomenon of interest, making it hard to isolate the circuit for any one thing.
