Native American Studies Lacks Protest-Built Infrastructure

Native American studies is the fastest-growing ethnic studies field but lacks the scholarly infrastructure that black studies has, because black studies arose from 1960s student protests demanding a canon, professors, and funding—a mobilization that never occurred for Native American studies—and its framework will conflict with the paradigms used to study black history.
