Israel's Firebreak Buffer Strategy

Because the Levant has never had the population density to defend itself, Israel survives by turning bordering countries into allies (Egypt), dependencies/proxies (Jordan), or failed states (Lebanon, nearly Syria), creating a firebreak so that any larger invader must first cross those buffer zones — a strategy that works for now though not necessarily forever.
