Prototype shelter and improve over building log cabin
In a 3-6 month survival scenario, building a simple A-frame shelter and improving it incrementally during downtime is superior to building a log cabin, because a warm log cabin requires immense calorie expenditure on chinking, sealing and chimney work that isn't worth it; you should start with something that works and focus most energy on getting calories.
