Some empires digest imperial loss, Russia cannot

Some former empires like France get over their imperial mentality and become normal countries after losing their empire, whereas Russia cannot get over the loss and keeps trying to get its empire back—possibly a matter of the passage of time that Russia has not yet lived through.
