How We Describe Situations Shapes Behavior

The most interesting and defensible part of Whorf's work, drawn from his insurance-inspector fire investigations (e.g. 'empty' fuel drums full of explosive fumes), is that the language people use to describe situations affects their reasoning, which in turn affects their behavior — and crucially that we use language to explain and justify what we have done.
