Science fiction and the broader culture have failed to imagine real disruption in attire: Star Wars and Star Trek depict throwaway, badly made clothing despite enormous technological advancement, and there has been no genuine conversation between Paris (fashion/style) and Silicon Valley (technology) about clothes that could carry memory, embed sensors, or be durable and home-washable.
