China's Authoritarian Model May Be Durable Contender

China has created an impressive authoritarian, quasi-market system that is highly capable of marshalling and innovating new technology; if it keeps its development machine going it may constitute a real alternative to liberal democracy, but its lack of feedback and responsiveness to public opinion will likely get it into trouble in the long run.
