Given human nature, a society of guaranteed basic income and pure leisure would, without entirely novel forms of communal and political self-restraint, default into round-the-clock entertainment, addiction, and debasement, as evidenced by aristocratic decadence across generations and current trends of people defaulting to addictive devices rather than flourishing.
