Sustainability not starvation is the survival key

To truly survive in the wild long-term you cannot starve it out passively; you must be active and unlock sustainability through a combination of fishing and trapping to buy time until hunting succeeds, after which a single large kill buys three or four months and lets you continue the cycle year-round.
