If Iran escalates drone and naval attacks in the Persian Gulf in the absence of US military presence, Saudi Arabia (not the US) will be responsible for the response, and with Saudi capacity to export crude oil to the Red Sea rather than through the Strait of Hormuz, Iran would lose its entire oil export capacity, making such escalation strategically catastrophic for Iran.

“if we do get to the point... United States largely not present... onus will be on the Saudis... Saudis have the capacity to export crude oil to West to the Red Sea... Iran... likely to lose... oil export capacity... Saudi Arabians have the military capacity... utterly destroy all Iranian oil export capacity”
