Non-intervention is idiot compassion

The far-left ethic that people have a right to occupy any public space and that letting an addicted or mentally ill person's life unravel on a sidewalk is the most compassionate response is a false, 'idiot form of compassion'—it ignores both the suffering of the person cycling toward an overdose death and the enormous economic and psychological quality-of-life cost imposed on everyone else who must navigate the resulting chaos.
