Past/Future Asymmetry Is Thermodynamic Not Fundamental

The reason we treat the past as fixed and the future as open is that the present contains many traces of past events and few of future events — a contingent thermodynamic fact arising from the entropy gradient — not a fundamental feature of nature; microscopically, the past and future are exactly symmetric.

the future looks more mysterious to us because we have we don't have information about it while nature is arranged so that we have a lot of information about the past
