No equilibrium exists in evolutionary systems
Any stable, zero-sum equilibrium for society is impossible because evolutionary systems have no equilibria: even if individuals or societies decide they have 'enough,' they will be out-competed by a cultural or genetic mutation that wants more, so any state of contented stagnation is 'invadable'—meaning theories of society that depend on a complete shift in human nature are broken from the start.
