Rapid growth would not necessarily have eliminated the ethnic, regional, and tribal tensions afflicting countries like Nigeria, and may even aggravate them; the Arab Spring uprisings arose not in the least-developed Arab states but in the most rapidly developing ones like Tunisia and Egypt.
