Newsom's activist history makes him non-viable nationally

Gavin Newsom is playing a trollish partisan game to gain attention while running for president, but is not an especially viable national candidate because his history requires having pandered to very activist far-left interests in California—positions he cannot now disavow—and he has never had to run a national election.
