Large Language Models Are Discoveries Not Inventions

Large language models in their current form are discoveries rather than inventions—like Galileo seeing Jupiter's moons through a telescope rather than the engineered, predictable 787—because we constantly get surprised by their capabilities and they are not fully engineered objects we designed and understand.
