Western arrogance and the need for humility

The West has had centuries of extreme arrogance, believing it exists to teach the world—sending young NGO workers to instruct other peoples on the environment, women's rights, and microfinance—and needs to be more humble and treat other cultures as equals rather than superiors, even if mutual understanding remains imperfect.
