Mini-fridges (even with temperature control) suffer from very short thermostat on/off cycles (2-3 minutes on, 3-4 minutes off) which is generally not healthy for compressor lifespan, but in this specific model's tiny interior design it is intentional to prevent freezing of items placed against the evaporator.
