Intensity is the critical variable for neurobiological benefits of exercise, more so than volume; while low-intensity exercise provides health benefits and moderate-intensity exercise benefits scale with training volume, high-intensity exercise produces neurobiological effects (particularly via lactate) that cannot be replicated at lower intensities regardless of volume.

“I really find um pretty compelling evidence that intensity is really important with respect to that for for the brain... the more time you put in like the volume of training right... but with the lactate though that's the one mechanism I'm like that is really something I personally am trying to optimize for”
