Death of local newspapers eliminated fair-shake media

Local newspapers run by editors who knew they served a politically mixed district and gave everyone a fair shake have been obliterated and replaced by very opinionated talk radio and partisan outlets, so the number of media venues that see their duty as talking to a wide spectrum of people has dwindled in the US far more than in the UK.
