Fantasy fiction is valuable as a mirror to society and a simulation—a simple scenario with some variables changed and realistic characters with depth—so that following characters through altered environments yields insight, with Lord of the Rings being an exemplary management book (e.g., Gandalf arriving at exactly the right time with exactly the right words).
