Biographers and Documentarians Best at Difficult Conversations

The best interlocutors of difficult or repugnant figures are documentary filmmakers and especially biographers, because the more time you spend studying a person's psychology, upbringing, and full context, the better the conversation, since you can empathize and see common humanity—but most interviewers and even modern documentaries lack the incentive to spend that time.
