Humans are part of the Technium not only because we are its reproductive organs (it cannot reproduce without us yet) but because we have engineered our own biology: inventing cooking gave us an 'external stomach' that changed our teeth, jaw, and enzymes, making us biologically dependent on cooking and effectively the first domesticated animal.
