Not All Technology Is A Paradigm Shift

Drawing on Carlota Perez's work on technological revolutions and financial capital, technological revolutions follow a cycle—new technology, industry development, public frenzy, backlash, then public institution building—but not all technology fits this pattern; sometimes technology is just technology, and much wealth (e.g., Texas energy) falls into that non-paradigm category and stays locally focused.
