Autopoietic Dynamics of Harm and Healing
Definition
A model describing two self-reinforcing cycles: (1) hurt people hurt people—trauma begets harm which begets more trauma; (2) healed people heal people—healing begets capacity for compassion which begets more healing. Both are autopoietic (self-perpetuating), and the trajectory of a system depends on which dynamic is dominant.
