Definition
A hierarchical grafting strategy using an intermediary plant variety that is genetically compatible with both the rootstock and multiple fruiting varieties, functioning as a universal adapter. This solves the problem of grafting varieties that are incompatible with the base rootstock by inserting a compatible bridge layer. The interstock allows expanding the number of compatible scion varieties from 2-3 to potentially 40+ per tree.
