Trade-Off Model of All Harm
Definition
A model proposing that all problems in the world arise from trade-offs where some benefit some things while harming others, either knowingly (nasty: intentional trade-offs) or unknowingly (dumb: unintended externalities). Solutions require either: (1) expanding circle of care to include all affected parties, or (2) expanding process complexity to anticipate all effects.
