A violent clash recently occurred in the South China Sea where two Chinese law enforcement vessels with hull numbers 301 and 101 attacked a Vietnamese fishing boat near the Paracel Islands, injuring several fishermen, with 10 crew members pursued and surrounded, and 40 Chinese crew members boarding the vessel and allegedly beating the fishermen.

Since the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act came into effect in 2022, US Customs have inspected nearly 10,000 shipments and denied entry to about 4,000 of them valued at over $3.5 billion.

Kurt Campbell, Deputy Secretary at the State Department, criticized China for targeting commercial ships in the Red Sea with drones and missiles through Houthi rebels, arguing that instead of working with international efforts to address the problem, Beijing directly communicates with the Houthis and advises them which ships to target.
