High-quality fish oil supplements are necessary because most people don't get adequate omega-3 from diet alone; quality matters (no PCP, dioxins, or mercury); rancid fish oil (oxidized) causes small dense LDL and lipid peroxidation and should be avoided; store in refrigerator.

The Respirate device is FDA-approved for lowering blood pressure; it guides respiration through earpieces producing tones that you follow for inspiration and expiration over 10 minutes; the device gradually increases the expiration-to-inspiration ratio, achieving ~8-9 breaths per minute by the end of the session.

Stress causes platelet degranulation (making platelets sticky), increasing clot risk and heart attack probability; parasympathetic activation prevents degranulation and keeps platelets flowing freely.

All inflammation starts in the gut; metabolic endotoxemia occurs when a leaky gut allows lipopolysaccharides and interleukins to enter the bloodstream and cause chronic systemic inflammation, which is the root cause of most modern diseases.

Wheat gluten (specifically wheat germ agglutinin) is the number one food sensitivity the speaker finds in patients with autoimmune disease, coronary artery disease, or hypertension/metabolic syndrome; it causes inflammation in the gut that damages the enteric nervous system and impairs vagal signaling.

The vagus nerve functions as the 'software' of the body while organs are the 'hardware'—the vagus nerve tells the hardware what to do and continuously senses and sends information, orchestrating moment-to-moment, minute-to-minute, and second-to-second changes in response to environmental shifts.

For premenopausal women, fasting should be done after (not before) the menstrual period, during the luteal phase, because they tolerate it better; during perimenopause, fasting is beneficial because it increases BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor) which improves brain plasticity and reduces vasomotor symptoms from estrogen drop.
“so women will not tolerate fasting right before the period so in women who are not menopausal I'm just saying for them right right before you should fast you should fast after your period you'll tolerate it better that's that's one rule the second thing is that in the per menopausal phase that you're going to fasting is actually beneficial because when you're fasting in the per menopausal phase you're going to get lots of good physiological changes bdnf which is brain derived neurotropic Factor gives you more plasticity your brain actually was better your bright so you you are less succumbing to the symptoms of basom motor activity”
Gallbladder dysfunction (lazy gallbladder without stones) can be resolved by improving vagal function and gut health rather than surgical removal; the speaker treated a woman with vestigial gallbladder contraction by working on vagal tone and gut health, allowing her to keep her gallbladder.
“I saw another girl the other day she was having gold bladder issues so her gallbladder wasn't working so what innovates the gold bladder the Vegas live right so with her we did the same thing we worked on a gut and they said they were going to take a gold bladder out and I said yeah well you got to follow the instructions but just try this and she did and her symptoms got better so you she didn't have a g Stone so why what was the problem she had a lazy gallbladder so they give you this little medication and then they look at your contractions on your gallbladder and gallbladder just wasn't Contracting properly and sure that'll cause a lot of problems right so my solution for that was listen just just wait a month try this and we worked on her gut and we worked on her maternity and a Vagas nerve function and she did exercises vagal nerve exercises and she still has a gallbladder”
The vagus nerve has two branches running alongside the carotid artery on both sides of the neck; applying an ice pack to the carotid area on both the left and right sides stimulates the vagus nerve and can be done as a free, accessible daily hack.

People living in traditional, tight-knit family or village societies maintain healthy vagal function and longevity without chronic disease because they have: (1) a life philosophy of living in the moment, (2) not dwelling on the past or holding grudges, (3) not worrying about the future, and (4) a sense of meaning and purpose in daily life.
“what serotonin what a great question I love the question the question is how come these people working all day long living in a big crowd with everybody and yet they were living well into their 90s without significant health problems because remember remember this and actually I should have said this in my lecture earlier on that the Vegas ner starts in the midbrain right but it has lots of rostal connections rostal me from the front so prefrontal cortex your frontal cortex your hippocampus your all that has connections to your vag nerve so if I am stressed out all the time because I have I I I have a certain philosophy in my life about relationships how children should be how parents should be for example living in that family situation if I'm stressed out all the time then my cognition my ideas is going to affect my Vagas nerve and then I'll get vas nerve dysfun function right”
Humming, laughter, singing, and gargling all stimulate the vagus nerve because the glossopharyngeal muscles are innervated by vagal branches; these behaviors lower pulse rate and blood pressure, and laughter clubs are recommended for hypertension prevention.
“another one is humming if you just sit for 10 minutes and go that vibration stimulates the Vagas nerve and if you measure people's heart rate when they're doing that it goes down measure their blood pressures it goes down humming does another one laughter so the Laughing Club start a laughing Club the more you laugh and beig good belly laughs you're stimulating your vagus nerve pulse rate goes down blood pressure goes down”
Touch, caressing, and non-threatening human contact signal safety to the nervous system, turning on the vagus nerve; screaming or threatening behavior activates sympathetic dominance by signaling danger.
“here I am and I don't touch when I touch someone well you touch me let us have you touch me you come touch me that means you're not my enemy right you caress me you hold me I'm not that means I'm now saying you're not my enemy so which one do you think is working my Vegas or my my sympathetic my Vegas you just turned on my Vegas nerve so therefore when you have pets and you pet a dog who's getting the benefit the dog no you're getting it because your dog's your friend you love it you're getting a meaning out of it and when you pet that dog your Vagas nerve goes up your vagal nerve stimulation is good”
Reproduction is nature's ultimate goal, and the vagus nerve prepares the body for reproduction by making you a 'strong, healthy, attractive specimen'; stress reduces reproductive function (sperm count, ovulation cycles) because it shifts the body away from parasympathetic-dominant breeding state.
“what does nature want you to do wants you to reproduce just remember that what's the goal of life to reproduce yeah nature wants to reproduce so what does the vas nerve Do It prepares you for that well in order to do that you have to be a good specimen you got to be a strong specimen you got to be an attractive specimen right you got to be a healthy specimen”
Sleep apnea has multiple forms: obstructive (airway obstruction), bruxism (teeth grinding from stress), and restless leg syndrome (iron deficiency); all disrupt deep sleep by preventing vagal activation, causing fatigue despite apparent sleep duration.
“so people think you see now now I'm going to ask you you think that sleep happen is only because of obstruction right now that is true if you have a big glot here and you and you're snorting a lot at night that's sleep apnea right so your brain thinks that you're choking you're going to die so instead of letting you go into deep sleep it puts you into shallow sleep and when you're only in Shallow sleep guess which nerve is shut down your vagus nerve right”
