Being an island is not enough for containment
Geographic isolation is not a comprehensive containment strategy: plenty of islands that restricted travel have failed (the UK being a notable example), and for most high-prevalence US population centers, treating yourself as an island will not accomplish much, though it can work for the few localities with low enough prevalence.
