The Indo-Greek populations may have been particularly predisposed to religious syncretism because, as historian Yorgos Hulas argues, most Indo-Greeks were followers of several Hellenistic and foreign cults simultaneously, so adopting the hero-cult image of the Buddha would have been embraced without much difficulty alongside all the ritual practices of everyday Buddhism like reciting prayers, propitiating deities, and venerating relics.
