The reconstituted Ku Klux Klan of the 1920s was the largest social movement of that decade, it fed off illiberal currents, admired fascist regimes, embraced paramilitarism and political violence, and enforced Prohibition as an attack on the lifeways of European immigrants and non-white-Christian populations.
